Pork Panko + Italian Sausage Crusted Fresh Mozzarella Patties

These patties are good on their own, smothered in mushrooms, served with pasta, as sliders, you name it.

1 pound Ground Italian Sausage

1 Tablespoon Tomato Paste

1 egg

8 slices of Fresh Mozzarella

1/2 cup Pork Panko

3 Tablespoons Butter or Oil

  • Mix together: Italian sausage, tomato paste and egg.

  • Form mixture into 16 very thin patties.

  • Place pork panko in a bowl.

  • Place one slice of fresh mozzarella between two patties and seal around the edges.

  • Coat patty with pork panko.

  • Cooking in batches as needed (do not crowd the pan), melt butter in a skillet over medium heat and panfry patties on each side about 4 minutes until browned.

  • Transfer patties to paper towel lined baking sheet and place in a warm (170-180 degree) oven to hold temperature.

Makes 4-8 Servings.
